Experimental Study of Penetration Capability of an Annular-Shaped Charge under Multipoint Synchronous Initiation

The large-distance penetration capability of an annular-shaped charge under multipoint synchronous initiation was experimentally investigated. For different annular structures and settings, incident angle, collision type detonation waves, overpressure on the shaped charge’s liner at adjacent points were analyzed using wave propagation theory. Furthermore, a standoff distance 1–15 m from 20 mm thick 45# steel plate (the target) determined through experiments. It found that cutter formed by 500 diameter (charge width: 100 mm) completely penetrated target for large distance, namely 150 times width. ratio width ring gap to liner’s initial radial about 1.07; this indicated cutter’s equivalent above flight which in turn implied had superior circular degree. case Mach reflection better degree, integrity, than regular reflection.
